Take the opportunity to visit my favourite wildlife destination in the world, the South Luangwa National Park. The trip will run from the 28th October 2018 - 4th November 2018. This is THE best time to go on safari, it will coincide with the end of the long dry season. Animals congregate around the remaining water bodies which are at a premium, so the chance of seeing both lion and leopard are incredibly high, plus the likelihood of witnessing kills is also hugely increased.
Our base for the week’s stay will be with Shenton Safaris, set in the heart of the National Park, away from other lodges. Our time will be split between Kaingo (meaning leopard in the local Kunda dialect) and Mwamba (meaning heaven) camps. They are incredibly intimate settings, and it is not unusual to be having an outdoor shower in your private bathroom whilst watching elephants passing by. Or even waking up to the sound of roaring lions close by, but all, whilst being completely safe in a luxurious setting. Shenton’s camps have just had a refurb and are, in my opinion, one of the best safari camps in the whole of Africa.
The setting, the accommodation, the food and of course, the main attraction, the wildlife is stunning.
Shenton also boast a network of wildlife watching hides; a carmine beeeater hide where you float just feet from the nesting colony of one of the world’s most stunning birds, a hippo hide where you can be at water level with these giants and the last waterhole hide, at Mwamba camp, where in your downtime you can sit in the hide and see who comes down to drink.
The cost for the trip would be inclusive of transfers from Mfuwe to the camps, all meals and beverages (including alcoholic) and a private vehicle for the group. It would also include a local guide, as well as myself.
I look forward to hopefully welcoming you to this special place, to encounter the incredible species the South Luangwa holds, sharing gin and tonics as the sun sets and hearing stories of the bush around the campfire.
The price would be £5580.00 not including flights and visas ($50). (We recommend arriving on the 27th and spending the night in Lusaka, which would allow for the 11am Lusaka to Mfuwe ProFlight on the 28th)
(You are also free to add on extensions such as to Livingstone, the Kafue or beyond).
