      <image:title>London NP - Transformation</image:title>
<image:caption>Green spaces are being transformed, this green space on a council estate in Hackney was once just a grass strip where drugs were dealt and the ground was carpeted in litter and dog mess. It is now a communal allotment, complete with a solitary bee hotel.</image:caption>

      <image:title>London NP - Bee City</image:title>
<image:caption>13,000 different species of wildlife have been recorded in Greater London. The flowers of the parks, gardens, allotments, rooftops of Greater London provide plenty of food for pollinators, allowing bees to be kept within the capital.</image:caption>

      <image:title>London NP - Urban Specialists</image:title>
<image:caption>With the increase in green roofs, urban specialists have moved in. In the UK there are only around 150 breeding pairs of black redstarts. London is one of the strongholds.</image:caption>

      <image:title>London NP - Enjoyment</image:title>
<image:caption>London's green and blue spaces are there to be enjoyed, from walking and running to cycling and kayaking. The London Olympic's helped encourage more people to get out there and realise what they had.</image:caption>

      <image:title>London NP - Wild Dog Pups</image:title>
<image:caption>During the commission I discovered fantastic sites and heard inspirational tales, including that off a local groundskeeper who would sprinkle wild flower seeds on random patches of land, from street corners to desolate waste ground. The areas were transformed for people and wildlife, he harvests some of the seeds and free packets of them can be picked up from his office.</image:caption>

      <image:title>London NP - Green</image:title>
<image:caption>London is green (and blue). There are 3000 parks, 300 farms, 1000km+ of signed footpaths, 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites, 2 National nature reserves, 8.3 million trees, 3.8 million gardens and 30,000 allotments. Some people think making London a National Park is a crazy idea, but once you see what is there, and what it has there is no reason why it cannot become one. Make it happen.</image:caption>

      <image:title>MALTA - Innocent Victims</image:title>
<image:caption>However, Malta is on one of Europe's three major bird migration flyways with hundreds of different species being recorded from European rollers to Egyptian vultures and despite being completely illegal these protected species are not safe from Maltese hunters guns. Here three juvenile raptors lie dead, all recovered in the Maltese countryside suffering from gunshot wounds. Front to back: Common kestrel, marsh harrier and honey buzzard.</image:caption>

      <image:title>MALTA - Wasted</image:title>
<image:caption>The hunters act almost like lethal twitchers, shooting down rare migratory birds for taxidermy but also and almost most shockingly for their own amusement. Rarer birds such as short toed eagles are shot and taken for taxidermy whilst more common migrants such as the beautiful European beeeater are shot and left to rot where they fall. <image:title>MALTA - Post Mortem</image:title>
<image:caption>All recovered migrants, both dead and maimed are taken to a vet to be checked over. Unfortunately a large amount of the maimed are euthanised as their injuries mean they'll either not survive or never fly again, no life for a wild bird. All birds are x-rayed to confirm that they've been shot. For this common kestrel, the gunshot injuries are obvious.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Malta - Littered</image:title>
<image:caption>Once in to the countryside, or even any relatively open green space the evidence is clear to see. Spent cartridges, hunting hides, hunting lures and cleared ground for trapping are evident. You can support BirdLife Malta and see the work they're doing here.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Malta - Quarry</image:title>
<image:caption>What are all these hunters after? The legal (by Maltese law) quarry in spring is Turtle dove and quail, despite hunting of this type being against EU law. In autumn, the list grows to a legal 41 species.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

<image:caption>Turtles are one of the most majestic and peaceful creatures of our oceans. Yet they fall victim to many things, largely humans. This old hawksbill was found dying in a mangrove swamp. A huge gash across its shell, no doubt from a boat collision. The gash was irreparable and the body left for nature to take its course. <image:caption>Much like a bird ring the tags are individually numbered, one is clamped quickly into each front fin of the turtles. They don't rust and hopefully if a fishermen catches the turtle accidentally, or a diver encounters the turtle on a reef it can be identified to work out its movements.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Fiji - Release</image:title>
<image:caption>But why aren't the villagers eating the turtles anymore. Inia says, ‘Turtles aren’t like they used to be, we see less. Before they used to come and lay their eggs now there are none. If you’re lucky you may see some when you’re out fishing but not like old times. For the future’ Inia tells me. ‘If we keep catching turtles, there will be none, maybe if we stop there will be more’.</image:caption>
